Guidance Counselor

In 9th Grade (or soon after you have filed your SODIAG "Declaration of Intent"), set-up an appointment with your counselor and discuss your plans and goals for achieving the Scholars of Distinction Award.

Construct a plan for your coursework that supports your interests in geography and your SODIAG project. Don't forget -- your high school coursework must include the Human Geography High Standard.

Keep your guidance counselor informed of your SODIAG progress.

All records and transcript information for your project will be a part of your student folder maintained by your school's guidance office or student services department.

Keep the lines of communication open! You may need to call upon your parent(s) to provide transportation for field work, to assist with locating resources, and/or making contacts in your community.
